Testimonial - Jack Zhang

My 10-year-old son, Jack Zhang, started golfing when he was 6 years old. At that time he golfed every once and awhile and hadn’t receive any formal training. In April 2007 Jack began practicing golfing professionally. Although Jack got the Second and Third places in the Junior Linkster Tour BC games, he was not stable and he didn’t make it through the Little Master games in 2007.

Starting this year [2008], Jack began to learn golfing from Daryl and he had great improvement in three months. Daryl corrected his swing using some creative lessons. Through these lessons, his swing is getting more stable. Jack now can hit 230 feet using fairway wood and the ball flies straight and far!

Often Daryl lets his students play games together, sometimes using a wedge and putter in different positions. They learn how to treat every game as a real tournament.

The importance of golfing on an actual course is that Jack learns how to deal with every different situation that can arise. On a driving range, wind and rain doesn’t matter, there is no slope to deal with, and every ball starts with a good position. However, on the golf course, every stroke is directly related to the next stroke. Daryl said, “Golf is consequence; which only shows on the golf course.”

Three months of learning is short, but his skill has improved greatly in every way – swing, long and short chipping, and putting. He won the First place in the Tsawwassen game where some of the competitors were impossible for him to compete with in the past.

In the 9 – 10 years old group of the Little Master Tour 2008, Jack kept his leading position in the first three days of intense competition. On the last day, Jack managed five birdies after striking +7 playing the first four holes. Jack achieved second place, with only one stroke behind in the end.

Jack has learnt the true essence of golfing from Daryl and he’ll use the skills throughout his future golf career.
